Gillingham is a lot bigger than Rochester, so there are more house options available. Rochester may be prettier, but there aren’t many possibilities for housing. Twydall is a nice, quiet area. Plenty of schools in the vicinity too! If you have kids, it may even be worth commuting from here if that’s something you’re interested in.

A good large M&S, large Sainsbury’s and TKmax, along with lots of other shops, is the Hempstead Valley shopping centre. It doesn’t look like much, but it has plenty of good shops. It’s not huge, but there are lots of good restaurants and coffee shops nearby.

Home to Gillingham FC, the greatest club in the world! Well, we think so. It is always a great day out watching the ‘‘Gills’’ and always a great atmosphere in the stadium.
There is a lot to do here. You can walk along the river, play Crazy Golf, take a ride on the mine railway, and, of course, swim in the wonderful Strand Lido Pool. Something for everyone. Of course, walking along the river or paddling in the river is free. The paddling pool is also free. We love it in summer as well as in winter, because there are different costs for the train, lido, and crazy golf. There is also a great little cafe and, most importantly, public toilets.
